The Hollywood Theatre celebrates a legacy of hilarious women with comedy cult classic ROMY AND MICHELE’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION in 35mm! Hosted by comedian Elizabeth Teets and Queer Horror’s Anthony Hudson, this special Atta Girl presentation opens with stand-up comedy from Willamette Week’s Best Comedian nominee Becky Braunstein (Becky with the Good Jokes) before the film.
Directed by David Mirkin and written by Robin Schiff from her play “The Ladies Room,” 1997’s ROMY AND MICHELE follows the titular best friends (Mira Sorvino & Lisa Kudrow) on a journey from LA to Tucson for their 10-year reunion – now with new identities as Post-It-inventing business women to impress their former tormentors before everything falls spectacularly apart. Featuring Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Camryn Manheim, and Justin Theroux, ROMY AND MICHELE’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION is one of the most hilarious and femme-affirming depictions of the power of female friendships in spite of everything the world – and high school – can throw at them.
